Don't touch it. The new builds reel you in with deals which sound too good to be true......because they are! These properties are not worth anywhere close to the price they ask for, not even 75%!!! Don't get carried away by shiney new fixtures, there are affordable properties out there which are far better quality and value for money. Negative equity for pretty new bits and bobs is crazy, but the young are often fooled by these schemes......the builders are quite evil.

Agreed, they might look pretty but the fixtures and fittings in most new builds are extremely poor quality and will need replacing within a few years. Every pound the builder spends on your new property will mean less profit for them so they will spend the bare minimum.

    Sounds like an interesting "scheme".

I wonder why they felt the need to devise a "scheme"?

You know what some people say about "schemes", don't you?

 Schemers think them up, that's for sure.

These new builds should be cheaper, so that first time buyers can afford them, full stop. No scheme, just cheap priced homes the buyer will own 100% of once the mortgage is paid. This 75% business on a property not worth half its value, well it makes me want to spit!

They can sell expensive houses to those who think they can afford them, ripping off young first time buyers is beyond disgusting. I pity those who fall for the scheme, but no one can change minds when they are fixed on pretty shiney new things which they are talked into beleiving are worth the fortune they charge for them.

The OP has started another thread - saying s/he has reserved a new build property.

So we have been thanking each other...but s/he appears to have taken little notice of our comments!

Well, it is the easy option buying new build. You take the rough with the smooth, hopeing you have little work to do. When you grow up a little, you realise all that is gold does not glitter. You put the work in and be sensible with what you borrow on.
