M&S 'wedding' cakes...do they do sponge as well?

Watch the sizes, some people are disappointed as they expected them bigger.!
I'm not sure why people have been surprised by the sizes, they clear list the dimensions & portion sizes on the website!
OP - We had a mix of fruit & sponge cake, with additional chocolate sponge cutting slabs.
The sponge was delicious & moist. Try and get the cake delivered as close to wedding as pos to make sure it's at it's best.0 -
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. We're getting married abroad and will be home around 13 days after the ceremony. We're not having a party when we get back and I'm not sure if I'll be able to order it whilst we're away (though could get friend to order it, only just thought of that :rotfl:) so it might be that I order it when we get back and then we have it the following week. Only need pieces for family and close friends so I think the large will be plenty big enough.
Will have a look at Sainsburys at well.
RuthnJasper - we're not telling anyone about the wedding apart from parents who are coming with us and a couple of friends each (primarily to save me from bursting
) and so although that's a nice idea unfortunately it wouldn't work for us. 0 -
IIRC we ordered ours 2/3 months in advance, and collected it the day before the wedding.

Thanks for the update! Re. getting the cake at the right time after you return from abroad, you could always order it on online in the next day or two and book the delivery date for whatever suits you on your return. Also, I think Sainsbury's Online offer £10 money-off for a first-ever online purchase.
I know someone who did this from New Zealand - they ordered online in NZ and arranged the delivery to the house down the road here, where they were staying, and got it delivered two days after they arrived! Happy days!!
Have a fabulous time. xx0 -

Thanks both I hadn't realised you could order well in advance. Obviously I have not paid enough attention to the website or I'd know all this

Was just sorting through some wedding clutter/paperwork and saw this and thought of this thread:
£5 of £30 on food to order from M&S - incl wedding cakes - using this code FTOSUMMR. Valid for orders placed by 31 July. You can even use this to purchase each tier separately - I think a couple of us July brides did!
Happy wedding cake eating!0
