Withdrawing cash from a Halifx savings account, any limits, complications etc?

This is on behalf of my mum.
She wants to draw £1000 from her Halifax savings and is not sure how easy it will be, I know things have changed a bit now but is it as simple as walking in and drawing it out?

I seem to remember there's a £1,200 limit (or at least used to be), maybe more with notification?...but which specific account is it?
In all cases though, best to take ID.0 -
Couldnt be sure off the top of my head. £1200 will do if thats the case. She does have a cheque book and card with it though so I dont think its that inaccessible.
Do you think there is any chance of them supporting faster transfers?, she wants the cash to go into hsbc, was going to draw it and pay back in.0 -
£2,500 is the limit for cash withdrawals at Halifax - more can be arranged with notice.
If it has a cheque book and a card, then it is a current account, and not a savings account.
This account will support faster payments, which can certainly be set up online or by telephone. They used to be possible in branch too, but I am not sure if that is the case any more.0 -
As she has a cheque book why not just write a cheque and pay that into the HSBC account?0

If she has a cheque book and card for the account then its a current account. If she goes into a branch she can withdraw up to £2500 without giving any notice, and will be expected to use the chip & pin machine at the counter.
Faster payments to other banks can be done over the phone or online if she is already registered for these services.
Other alternative is to write a cheque and pay it into the other bank which will take a few days to clear.''Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by a$$holes.'' :whistle:0 -
If she doesn't need the physical cash, it is far better to transfer the funds by giving the relevant Sort Code and account number of the destination account.
This saves any issues with taking out high-value notes and having to worry about it until the other bank takes it in!0 -
Although a thousand pounds in cash would be no problem if you were using the counter chip and pin, there may be cash limits on savings accounts. Does it state them in the T&C's by any chance?0

Its the same for current & savings accoounts. £2500 per day, more with notice.''Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by a$$holes.'' :whistle:0 -
It's always best to give notice, if only because many branches do not hold large stocks of cash. This would apply to all building societies and ex-building societies.0

All Halifax branches will be able to give £2,500 on demand.
It's always worth checking, whether it's a building society, was once a building society, or has always been a bank. My local Barclays limits cash withdrawals to £800, unless notice is given.0
