I can recommend the Sandos Papagayo as well. The entertainment is in it's own area and hence the bars are quiet. You need a car really though.

The restaurant can be a bit busy, so go for your meals at the start of each mealtime or near the end.

Travelrepublic usually has good prices for this hotel, as does Monarch's website.

    Thanks again for your replies.

I eventually tried to book a place in Playa Blaca called Colarada Bungalows. Looked fabulous and I was so excited............. until husband tried to book it. Started around c£1,700 but ended up nearer £2,600. Too rich for my blood.

I'll go again and look at the last two suggestions.

    Many thanks.

Thanks for that. I don't have the bottle to go it alone. I did it for Paris 2 years ago and I found it stressful. I'd ultimately love a villa but I feel that is for seasoned travellers.

I just want somewhere warm, peaceful, comfy, no loutish behaviour, somewhere we can relax and just be.

villarenters does carry some protection as it is not just run from direct contact with the owners - my brother is quite wealthy and wondered why we could afford such wonderful villas until i showed him the site - he was using a well known alternative!!! - my wife is a major worrier, all for the right reasons but swears by going private these days - as an example we have booked for the best part of three weeks in Turkey this August for about £1400 for 5 of us plus flights in a villa with a shared pool with 3 others - happy to help

I've just been to lowcostholidays. Anyone tried them. I found the same bungalow I originally looked at for nearer a price I can afford. Now I'm fretting about hidden costs. I haven't booked yet. Am a queen procrastinator. Husband says we will all be back at work/school before I get a grip. Oh Lordy. Plus, son will miss first two days back at school.
