Yes if your buyer pays via PayPal they charge also. I've stated asking buyers to pay via the Barclays pingit app

If I were buying I wouldn't be using this method to pay, either. Paypal offers an extra level of security (ie chargeback) for the buyer.

My summary of selling charges from personal experience:

Ebay charge 10% FVF + listing fee where applicable
    Paypal charge 3.4% + 20p per sale

    Hi All,

Apologies if this has been posted recently. I'm confused about Ebay charges?? I know they take 10% on final selling prices and any listing fees (Although I try and wait for free listing days), but do Paypal then take fees as well??

    Thanks in advance.

    Yes they sure do...

I dont use ebay anymore, Just gumtree. Its free
  • I can't remember the total cost but I always assume that I'm going lose a total of around 15% of the sale price for selling on EBay (10% FVF, 3-4% from PayPal and then a few pence for listing + the fixed bit of the PayPal fees). If you work off a rough 15% it will be about right! Simples!

Ebay cannot prevent you accepting other payment methods (or even offering say, a 2.5% discount, for using an alternative such as 'Pingit'). They only stipulate that Paypal has to be offered as a payment method.

Barclays pingit isnt secure and there are lots of virus's and hacks into it. Not safe at all, Id rethink :)

Offering a discount for another Payment method is a grey area as eBay rules specifically state you cannot charge a premium for using PayPal- and it is argued that by making it the more expensive option you are charging a premium.

Anyway, many of us do offer other payment methods, buyers though prefer PayPal and rarely use anything else . As a buyer I would not dream of paying by any other way.

A personal/private account does not attract fees, but it can only receive payments from a cleared paypal balance- so it is not possible to sell on ebay using it.

A private account does attarct fees.

Ebay charge fees whether you're a private or buisness seller.:money:
