Ebay Fees

Hi All,

Apologies if this has been posted recently. I'm confused about Ebay charges?? I know they take 10% on final selling prices and any listing fees (Although I try and wait for free listing days), but do Paypal then take fees as well??

Thanks in advance.

  • Paypal take fees if you have a premium / business paypal account (I can't remember the exact name of it). You can probably check if you have or not by accessing your own account. As far as I know, if you don't have a premium account, it's free.

A personal/private account does not attract fees, but it can only receive payments from a cleared paypal balance- so it is not possible to sell on ebay using it.

Don't forget as well as free listing days, the first 100 items per month on an auction listing starting at 99p or less have no insertion fee.

OP seems aware of ebay fees, and frankly it isn't the listing fees that are expensive- it's the FVFs and paypal fees that tend to hit.

    Hi there,
PayPal charges the last time I checked are 3.4% of the Total Amount of money you received + 20p.

I'm on a Business Account but I'm sure it was around the same for Personal Accounts.

I'm pretty sure Paypal charges too as I always seem to have less going into my Paypal account than I should have...not too sure how much they charge though, might be somewhere on their site?

I use paypal a lot and they do charge 1.4% - 3.4% fee plus 20p when the buyer pays into your paypal account, and charges are immediate rather than invoiced monthly like eBay do. So you'll get notification that "your buyer has paid (full amount due) into your account" then when you look you'll see what's left for you after they've deducted their cut.

Here's their webite page regarding fees https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-receiving-fees-outside

There is no charge to withdraw your money into your bank account.
  • Yes if your buyer pays via PayPal they charge also. I've stated asking buyers to pay via the Barclays pingit app

I would seriously reconsider this approach if you are selling on ebay.
