Hi hoping someone can help please.
My 78 year old mum bought a cheap netbook with Windows CE 6.0 purely so she can get her bank and utility statements online.
I have followed the instructions to set up wifi and it states that she is connected with a strong signal. BUT whenever we type in an address it comes up as "This page cannot be displayed":(
What am I doing wrong? I'm thinking she's asking the wrong person for help!
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

What security do you have set up on the wireless router? It seems that WPA/WPA2 may be a problem for some netbooks.
You could try WEP instead, though she would have to accept that this is nowhere near as secure.0 -
Why on earth did you let her buy that rubbish? If bought online within the last seven working days, get her to return it for a refund. Then she can buy a second hand Acer Aspire ZG5 with a 120GB HDD for much the same price.0

Why on earth did you let her buy that rubbish?
Harsh! But probably not unfair...
I too would be looking at returning under DSRs if still within 7 days - CE 6.0 is effectively an old "dead end" OS.
If you can't send it back, take a look at some of the online articles on setting up the Wireless Zero Configuration Service. It's quite likely that it is trying to connect to someone else's network (possibly a neighbour's), and all you need to do is define a "preferred network".0 -

I had one of these to toy with, seriously the other posters like above are right, its a useless toy, it won't be able to cope with online banking. The browser is excruciatingly slow and so old the security standards will probably be too out of date.
Get it sent back ASAP.0 -

Would be nice but sadly
You can't put anything on them, the OS is in ROM and the processor is nothing like a PC's, basically they are more like a (poor) mobile phone. Its an embedded OS, really designed for use in Sat Nav's in cars and such (for which its pretty good)0 -
This is a 15 yr old mobile phone with a bigger screen and keyboard. If it's 'purely for bank and utility statements' it won't work as it'll have an ancient version of IE that won't get through security. Return it or write it off. A netbook or a decent secondhand laptop (easier to read screen) is what's needed.0

Thanks to all for sparing the time to reply. Netbook duly returned will now search for something more appropriate.
Thanks again0 -
The one in my link has gone over-budget.
But that should be your benchmark.0
