you probally have a faulty rearlight, causing a bad earth.
Have a look at rear bulb holder connections, maybe just need a clean with some contact cleaner/ wire brushlbm 11/06/12 dept total 11499.470 -
faulty stalk if dash light comes on aswel, bad earth would light up your cluster like a Christmas tree0

Faulty stalk. Not sure how a bad earth can cause the light to come on by itself.
Unless it only happens when the headlights are on or when you brake etc.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I have a transit van and the indicator kept coming on when I braked. Was a bad earth and Ihad to change the rear light cluster.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

COMMs 2000 - you need to get the part number for your particular car and find a replacement on Ebay - brand new they are very expensive (£200+)"Retail is for suckers"
