Hi ya'll.
Me, hubby and 2 teens (12 & 13) are going to Ibiza in 10 sleeps time :j:j:j

I've got everything sorted but i was re-counting my euros adn we've got 150 euros per day spending money.

The kids have got their own pocket money (70 euros each for the whole week).

Hubby gets paid 2 days after we leave for ibiza so could always take out another 100 if needed.

and we are going self catering, don't mind eating lunch / dinner in small cafes, and we don't eat in fancy resteraunts and will be making our own brekkie.

Scuba diving, air-con and money for the safe is all separate.

Last time i went abroad was 25 yrs ago and i was 14 so everything is new to me.

So 150 euros per day, does that sound adequate?
(I think i'm having last minuite nerves!!:D:o )

I would have thought so. I usually say £100 a day (so that will be about 120 euros). Find the right places to eat that are cheap enough(theres plenty of them about)..
I would say though take a credit card with you for emergencys.
Have a lovely time...We have been to Ibiza twice.Where are you staying,if you dont mind me asking?
  • Hi thanks for your quick reply.

We are staying at Casa Luis in Santa Eulalia.

The other thing worrying me is that we've got cash, but thats what we do when we are holidaying in the UK, as when i'm paying for things via a card i can lose track on how much I've spent and towards the hols you can end up with not a lot left

I hear peolpe saying "card is safer", but I'm sure i will be fine as long as I'm cautious.

I will be taking my barclaycard (but that is strictly for medical emergencies or major problems only)

And then we've got my debit card with ricks wages on there for other emergenices.
  • We want to visit playa en bossa, ports de torrents (going scuba diving), San antonio (during the day only), ibiza town.

It would have been nice to hire a car for a day but i have a feeling we wont be able to afford it :(

Should be easily enough, we usually spend about 100EUR per day on a similar type holiday (for the 4 of us), assuming accomodation and flights etc are paid for and you'll have a few cheap days on the beach etc. Should be able to eat out for about EUR50 if you don't go OTT.

Hiring a car for a day shouldn't be too expensive, resorts are usually full of small car hire companies. Always pay cash for the car hire if you can, avoid giving them your credit card (I've never known a local car hire company in a holiday resort not to accept cash).

Thanks, that's calmed me a little. Yep everything is paid for it's just food & drink money and extras like boat trips, pedalos, brolly hire, hippy market (for me ;):D )
As i said it's proberly just nerves, none of my family have been abroad before so it's like the blind leading the blind!! :D

Santa Eulalia is lovely, I was surprised to find the prices a bit cheaper there than San Ant and Ibiza Town.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

Ibiza town does looka bit exclusive

(I can ponce about with my big black floppy hat, overly large sunglasses and lurk next to the biggest yacht pretending it's mine whilst Ricky takes a foto of me!! :D;) )
  • Hi Clare, I can help you out on a few things....
Your resort is nice, but small and very "English" you will defo want to see more of Ibiza. The buses are cheap I suggest you try and plan your routes to Ibiza town(very nice place not exclusive at all but visit at night to see it in its full glory and see Dalt Villa), PDB is a posers heaven for all the hip youngsters wearing vests and parading around like the this is essex crew :D. Port Des Torrent is a nice little place, I stayed there last month for a second time(lads hol in a villa to get away from the noisy resorts while recovering), San An you should do in the late afternoon/evening and head to the sunset strip to watch the sunset it is simply beautiful. Although don't go to any of the bars like Mambo or Cafe Del Mar unless you wanna be spending 10e a drink! You can sit on the rocks and hear the music for free or keep on walking past the strip right round the corner and go to Kanya, just as beatiful but normal price for a drink is about 4e a beer. Gorgeous setting to while the DJ will play chill out/house music. A taxi to Port Des Torrent from you will be 40e in the day more at night(we did it in June so I know) so I would recommend getting a car for sure, book online and get the extra insurance for 5e a day and have no excess in the event they try to rip you off, you will need to book on credit card though and pay on arrival on credit card they wont accept cash anywhere on the island or debit card. BK are cheap and reliable. If you get a car please go and take a day at cala D'Hort it is a beautiful beah with the magical rock es vedra as the back drop google images will help you see what I mean. San An at night you obviously know to avoid but it is only the west end that is bad, everywhere else still has the chilled Ibiza vibe, !!!!! cat bar is a nice bar to chill with family after a sun set on the strip. The bus station drops you right in the middle of San An once you walk down the path in to the square plenty of cheap places to eat.
150e a day I think is managable, I am taking mrs and 3 kids in 6 weeks for 10 days and we are only taking 600e but when I went with my mates I spent 1500e in 10 days! Santa Eulalia has a lot of good places to eat cheap down by the main beach and you can walk along to the habour and see or even eat at the restaurant where Kevin and Perry was filmed
If you have any questions feel free to ask/pm me or just look here

This will give you a much better idea of what is on offer then wha I can.
    Have a nice holiday
  • Oh and while you are in Port Des Torrent if you have time head to Cala Bassa beach you can get the bus for about a euro it is another gorgeous beach to lie and enjoy the rays.
  • Good choice of holiday destination! Been to Santa Eulalia many times, in fact we got married there - you will see the church, it's called Puig Den Misa, it's on top of the hill, you won't miss it and it's worth walking up to.

Ibiza town is a must, just for the window shopping and atmosphere if your on a budget. My favourite way of getting there and back is the water taxi. You get it from the end of the beach, nearest the Marina, believe me, it's obvious when you get there. Lots of nice bars and restaurants around the marina, which is quite small but nice to walk around.

Cala D'or, as someone mentioned above is well worth a visit. I find it a little bit spooky, the giant rock always gives me a funny feeling in my stomach.

My favourite bar in Santa Eulalia is Royalty Bar. It's easy to spot, on the top right hand side of the square, if you have your back to the sea.

Plenty of places for some cheap eats, from memory there is a KFC and a Pizza Hut if that's your thing. Have a walk down 'restaurant row' as we call it, behind Royalty Bar and have a look at the menus. It's cheaper to eat out at the places on the sea front though.

Santa Eulalia is a small place and you will be able to get your bearings really quicky. The town beach is nice but there's a better one (in my view) further along (walking away from the marina).

Google the Gruphotel there and either print off a map or memorise it. When you walk that way there's a pretty good restaurant in front of the Stakis Hotel, I forget it's name though. If you get to the Gruphotel there is a little bar just to the left as you face the hotel. It looks like a whole in the wall but be brave lol. Nice little bar by the sea and the owner is English and very friendly. He has a Thai wife and if she is cooking, take advantage of the Thai food she does but isn't on the menu.

Have a great time, I really hope you do.
