I have no knowledge of how the Performing arts are mostly funded, but your logic seems sound that if they are not big researchers then more of funding must come from the teaching element.:beer:0 -
Brazilianwax, both Music and preforming arts at my university employ RAs, so the departments must do a lot of reseach if they employ them.:beer:0

In fact if the people who think Phil is a fictional character created for research purposes are correct it would most likely be arts research into the way people interact over the internet, the identities we create for ourselves and the way we relate to those of others.
In a way I think it is quite interesting that people seem to have an expectation that the idents of others should be their own true character and yet surely we are all selective about what we reveal of ourselves on the internet? In a sense we tend to project ourselves as we would wish to be seen rather than as we are. That's not something you can keep up for long in real life.0 -

She means like RADA or the RNCM. I think they attract a lot of philanthropic funding from successful people either within the industry or people in business who have an appreciation for theatre or music or maybe who had youthful aspirations in that field.0
