Fence height

Hi I need to hide ugly view at end of my garden. The 6ft fence is mine I do have room to plant trees. I have rung my council to ask about putting trellis on top and growing ivy or clematis. They say 6ft is the maximum but when I said other neighbours have gone higher they said what they don't know about they don't worry about! Anyone got any suggestions.

Do I just do it? The neighbour at the bottom is a nasty person, his next door neighbour hasn't spoken in over 35 years to him.i we have reported him to the council for his selfish actions.

From personal experience trellis is a very good bet. The council are really unlikely to bother with any kind of enforcement, but in the unlikely event that they do it would be very easy to remove.

Someone at the council has been very honest. No-one inspects fences but if a complaint is made, the council have to check it out and the law says the maximum fence height is 2m (not 6').

If you are happy to take a chance, put up a higher fence or add trellis to the top of your existing fence. If you don't want to risk being investigated, plant trees or tall shrubs or bamboos.

That's right, so you could lift the existing 6' panels and put a gravel board underneath it
How about adding some bamboo panel screening on your side?
