How often do you relist an item?

Curious to know peoples experience on this. Have you found that it's definately worth to relist items? Also at what point would you cut your losses and not bother anymore?

Thanks in advance peeps :)

  • Yes - I do relist but change the item & category to something I know will definately sell. That way I get back the placement fee and then I put the original item back on again as a first listing. If it doesn't sell again repeat the above. Eventually give up on it after a few goes and give it to the charity shop!

I never relist any of my items but I don't get many unsold ones anyway.

I usually relist once - and the item nearly always sells the second time. If not, it's off to the charity shop!
  • I've had items with no interest first time then second time they have loads of bids. Weird!

I listed a collectable that was watxched but failed to make a bid, I waited a couple of weeks ...added the word 'beautiful' and it got a bid the first day(???) sold for twice my minimun!

Personally I hate adornments like gorgeous and beautiful but it worked this time!I've had some 'gorgeous' stuff I would not have bought at half the price had I seen it first!!

I usually check the Completed auctions for similar items to see if there were many bids and what the average selling price was. This way I'll know if it's worthwhile relisting an item. Many times it isn't: there's an oversupply, it's out of fashion, or the wrong season or time of year...

Another listing/relisting strategy (called mirroring) is to wait until another item like your's is listed and has attracted some decent bids. Simply relist your item to close around the same timespan with a slightly higher or lower price. You'll often get a fast sale via BIN or a few good nibbles from the runner-up bidders. Worked for me with great success! :-)
