    It's my understanding that people don't get "officially registered" by the police in this country. That will be the purpose of your visa. The Land Registry won't have information about you personally but it will show who owns the property and whether there is more than one flat at the address.

    Speak to your landlord about issuing you with a formal, signed and dated tenancy agreement.

    If you are on the electoral role are you registered at the property for Council Tax and do you have that documentation to hand?


    If the embassy requires you to show them a tenancy agreement then a tenancy agreement you must have.

    At this address, there is just one property, I lived in the top floor flat, which is part of the house and not explicitly separated. Council tax was included in the rent, the same as is the case now.

    I just checked on the current agreement that I have, and there it says:
    ASSURED SHORTHOLD TENANCY

    I hope that falls under the category of "tenancy agreement" and is nothing special.

    An AST is the most common form of tenancy agreement.

    That is probobly what the authorities will expect to se.
