PPI Offer

Options
Hi All, I have been made an offer of a refund for 5 claims that I made. The first claim was double the amount of PPI paid. I was given figures by my bank as to how much I had actually paid on each loan. The remainder of the offers are atleast half if not less than I originally paid and I dont know why. Can anyone help me with this matter. Should I complain to the ombudsman?

It might depend on a number of factors, like the age of the loan, whether a rebate was applied on early settlement etc etc etc.
You really need to post the details, if you want a detailed and informed reply.
  • Thanks Moneyineptitude. the paperwork I recieved from my bank stated the following:
    1999 to 2001 PPI amount £94.00 and I have been offered £193.08
    2004 to 2006 PPI amount £590.00 offered £434.01
    2006 to 2007 PPI amount £3847.00 offered £1343.70
    2007 to 2008 PPI amount £4023.00 offered £1360.10
Hope this helps you to answer my question. The bank gave me all these details and the exact amounts of PPI before I made my claim.
    Thanks in advance

The oldest loan has the most return because it is the oldest. It's the 8% simple interest which has bumped this up.
The other figures are useless unless you can post about their specific circumstances. Did you settle any of them early so that you didn't pay all the PPI? Without this kind of information it's impossible to comment.
If you're concerned, write to the Bank and ask them to explain the breakdown in detail.
I don't think it will be necessary to approach FOS, there is likely to be very simple (and valid) reasons why the figures presented are an accurate representation of what you are owed.
  • Thank you so much for helping me. I will give my bank a call on monday as they have given me a number if I need to speak to them. Thanks again your a star xxx
