Living in SFA but have another property

I wonder if someone can help. My husband and I live in married quarters but we have another property which is currently unoccupied.
Its now been empty for 6 months so we have had the council tax exemption, but of course that 6 months has run out and we now have to start paying it again.
I heard that if you live in SFA, then your own property is still classed as your main residence and no matter how long its empty you do not have to pay council tax on it. Is this correct? and if so could someone please quote me the correct 'rule' allowing this before I call the council on Monday?

Depending on the state of furnishing your own property is considered a second home and to a 50% reduction

We are in the same situation and I am afraid that you do have to start paying CT at a reduction of 50% after 6 months.Grab life by the balls before it grabs you by the neck.0

I think you're confusing the capital gains tax exemption for your main residence whilst required to live elsewhere (i.e. in SFA) with any Council Tax reduction.
Should you sell your own home, I think you wouldn't have to pay any capital gains tax (CGT) on any profit as you would benefit from this capital gains tax exemption for your main residence, even though you weren't living there. It may get more complex as you've rented it out, but I think this is how it works.
Capital Gains Tax (on the profit when you sell) is totally separate from Council Tax.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0
