Contents Accidental Damge Claim for a Computer

People please! Just don't talk about any sort of work or anything like that, it's your computer for you and your enjoyment, you broke it when you dropped it down the stairs, that's it.
Simple claim.
I claimed for a similar circumstances, my payment was little over £1000 and when I renewed the insurance was £12 more expensive, the Policy now costs me £11 per month.
I use AXA and I did exactly what you propose. No biggy as I can see!
All very well, however dropping a 6 year old computer down stairs now days rings alarm bells with Insurers. They're very likely to arrange a cognitive interview for the OP which is in effect a lie detector test carried out by simply asking specific questions for about 45 minutes. They will ask numerous times and in variously differently worded questions around the same them as to why it was being carried at the top of the stairs. The chances of them not finding out about it being taken out of the house for the audio production work are very slim.
It's then a case of whether they deem the payment via food / drink a business and whether they discover the OP has ever been paid money for this type of work. Could also be that he would have needed to declare the audio production as a part time occupation.
To be able to lie and get away with it in one of these interviews would need a huge amount of planning and a very sophisticated liar.
OP work out whether it's financially worth claiming or not, if it is put the claim in.
As mentioned above they are very likely to perform a cognitive interview (Google it) I strongly recommend you don't lie when you put the claim in. The claim may not be a problem or it might cause problems eg claim refused and possibly policy cancelled along with subsequent repurcussions.
If you give us more information eg do you ever get paid, is it for very amateur performers thus genuinely done for love etc, what's your normal trade etc
If you genuinely do it as a hobby with no payment then it probably won't be a problem0 -
With the G4 been very heavy, what damage has been done to the stairs or walls?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

You've told them it's quite easy and to not to only say they use the computer for private use. If (Which is very likely) the Insurer performs a cognitive interview eg a lie detector test without the machine. The interviewer will pick so many wholes in the story and mark the OP down for lots of further investigation.
Really not a good idea trying to make a fit a story into what happened when faced with this type of interview, you need to answer the questions truthfully.0 -
They will try to replace it with a basic model PC, naturally the argument to have with them that this not suitable as you need to run Mac software.
As others have said, you will need to be careful with your story as both the circumstances and mentioning what you use the computer for both are possible to trigger further investigation. Of cause if you are telling the truth then worse case is a bit of a delay in the process but most complain about how slow insurers are even without adding additional delays0
