Cheap room in Southend-on-Sea for Sat 25th Aug?

Hi there,

Me and a friend are planning on visiting Southend-on-Sea next month on Saturday 25th August, staying for one night and returning the next day. We are on a tight budget so are looking for a cheap room to share.

I saw there was a Premier Inn and a Travel Lodge but the rates were about 80-85 pounds for a twin room...does anyone know of any promotions or sales where we could get a room cheaper? (doesn't have to be Premier Inn or Travel Lodge, just thought they're generally two of the cheapest!)

Also doesn't strictly need to be a twin, could be double, but twin would be preferable.

By then the new Holiday Inn at the airport is likely to be open, but I've no idea of prices.

Try the council's website - there are lots of small guest-houses along the sea-front and the council should have a travel and tourism information office.
