Parking Penalty Notice

I have received a Parking Penalty Notice 13/7/12 stating that I have not paid a ticket that was either issued or posted to me regarding over parking in a supermarket back in May of this year.
The problem is I have never received such a ticket and now they say I owe £90, the other issue is its for a supermarket in another town over 20 miles from me that I never use.
I contacted the company by phone today, to state I wish to appeal and was told I was passed the appeal date and could do nothing but pay the fine or get CCTV proof that it was not my car or me driving.
I went to see the duty manager of the supermarket, there is no CCTV in their car park.
Any ideas of what to do next?

Firstly dont worry.
You say it was in a supermarket car park ? if so can you tell me the name of the company you rang to appeal ? V important !
I suspect what you have is a private parking ticket, these ticket have no legal basis in law and can be safely ignored.
Have a read in the parking section on here to find out more info http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Yes, almost certainly ignore them. More details on the parking board will help.
BTW, there are next to no practcal differences between England and Scotand here. Minor differences in process and terminology but the net result is the same - Not a lot will happen.0 -
My oh got one of these mickey mouse tickets a few years ago, actually like yourself he didn't get a ticket the first we heard of it was when a letter arrived. I came on here and was told to ignore it by the very nice people over on the parking board. I think we got three letters from the company then a lawyers letter all of which we ignores, we then got the phone calls, they were fun I really enjoyed extracting the urine out of the person on the other end of the phone. I again think we got a couple of phone calls and that's been it not heard from them again.0

You had phone calls? I'd be seriously worried if they had my phone number as I'm ex-directory but doesn't that constitute harrassment?0 -

Yup, they were from the ''cough cough'' lawyer.Don't know if they can get that kind of information from dvla but we certainly didn't give out our number.0 -
Ignore, Impersonation of authority fake ticket.
file in the bin, they will write silly letters threatening court action, pretend to be a solicitor and a debt collector, all fake, then give up.
The letters rely on you falling for the impersonations and foolishly getting confused with a real parking ticket such as police or council.
