Is being a diabetic another reason for claiming for PPI compensation ?

I have a friend, who has taken out mortgages with the same bank for various properties that he has lived in since the 1980s.
He has taken PPI cover for these mortgages but unfortunately does not have the paperwork with him anymore for some of the mortgages.
He believes for the 1st 2 mortgages, which he took, he was advised that he had no option but to take the PPI cover.
For info, he took PPI cover for accident, life, sickness and forced redundancy so he was on the full monty.
However, he is also a diabetic on insulin and has been since a child. He thinks that they never asked him about pre-existing health conditions when he took his PPI cover. Would this have impacted his ability to claim sickness insurance via PPI and should he claim for this in his attempt to get compensation ?
Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

What evidence does he have to support that allegation? However, he is also a diabetic on insulin and has been since a child. Diabetes in general isnt severe enough to invalidate cover. It would prevent cover for any condition related to diabetes but not for anything else.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
