Shares - What does this statement mean?

TR-1(i): NOTIFICATION OF MAJOR INTERESTS IN SHARES

I get it now and again from RNS feeds via email and its puzzling me in what it actually means. Does it mean that there could be a possible take-over of the company I hold Shares in?

Usually when one of the major shareholders has changed their holding. All shareholders who hold above 3% have to notify LSE, company and other shareholders of their holding. An RNS is issued when any of these change thier holding and is not usually an indication of a take-over unless it is a major change eg. 30-40%
