Our local has been a M&B for many years - Ember Inns brand since about 2000.
Ember Inns run a "Buy one meal, get the other for a £1" on a number of selected dishes up to 5.00pm Mon-Sat.
The Fish & Chips deal, as part of this offer, used to be the Beer Battered Haddock, which was delicious and really good value.
Although the Haddock is still available on the full menu it does not feature as the Fish & Chips deal anymore.
On Saturday 30 June we went into our local Ember Inns pub and ordered the fish & chips in the "Buy one get another for a £1" deal.

It was revolting. Knowing my fish i knew it was cheap cr#p. This wasn't even Pollock - it was awful, tasteless, dreadful texture.

I emailed M&B that afternoon to complain and ask why they'd replaced the Haddock on this deal. 2 weeks on i haven't received a reply despite the M&B auto reply saying i would get one.

This afternoon i went into my local for a couple of beers - i mentioned my complaint - the staff had been shown a copy of my email the other week - they weren't sure whether i'd get a reply from M&B.
Interestingly i was told the fish they use in this deal is called River Cobbler - i've never heard of it.
EDIT: Just googled it - commonly known as Basa. Thought it was this the othe Saturday - tasteless, revolting texture.

Anyway i'd advise anyone on here to avoid this Fish & Chip deal from Ember Inns - it ain't worth it.
You're better off buying the full priced Haddock & Chips.
