OK, apologies if this is a weird question or if I am posting this in the wrong place (I was unsure of which board to post it on).
I am just wondering if anyone has any experience with taking their own mini fridge to a hotel to use or whether you think this would be allowed?
I have previously taken items out of the mini fridge to make space to put in my own few bits but then of course what i didnt realise is the mini fridges automatically detect changes in weight and then they tried to charge me for items I hadnt had at the end of my stay!
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about this?
Thanks in advance

I do it all the time. Every hotel stay. Only way to ensure I have fresh milk for my son at all times.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

If you are not sure OP why not drop the hotel an email and ask?
Personally I'd just take it and if challanged tell them you have medication that needs keeping cool. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

thanks both for such speedy replies, and very helpful! Hadnt thought of 'needing' it for reasons like medication or child's milk. Guess it must be a more common thing to do than i thought. I will try taking one and see whether i am challenged!0

I work in a pretty small, independant hotel, and wouldnt bat an eyelid at a guest with a fridge in their room.
There are many things i would look twice at  , but a mini fridge is not one of them

I packed a cool bag with ice packs, cold drinks fruit etc before leaving home recently and found that it kept cold for a couple of days if you can't take a fridge...The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

I take mine with me everywhere I go. I have medication that needs to stay cold. Mine plugs into the car and then into the mains via an adaptor and keeps things at 20 degrees below the ambient temperature so only in very hot weather does it need boosting by iceblocks. However it has not been a problem this summer.
I have never experienced a problem and if I did I would leave the hotel as without medicines my life would not be worth living:eek: It would reflect very badly on the hotel in the feedback I left!I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I bought a mini fridge today, a 14 litre fridge half price from argos. So hotel with my new mini fridge here I come!0

Hi Bumble_Bee,
As your thread has now dropped down the Old Style board I've moved it to the UK Holidays board to see if you can get more advice.
