Halifax reward account

Hi,

I'm thinking of opening up a Halifax ultimate reward but I currently have 2 standard halifax reward cards, will I still be able to get the £5 reward on the new ultimate reward account?

Your should be able to get the monthly fiver if you meet the T&Cs, i.e. pay £1K/mth into the account. That is, if they allow you to open another current account - - worth a try, anyway.

...however, there's always the possibility that they'll ask you to close one of your existing (presumably sole?) Reward accounts, being as the limit is now 1 sole and 1 joint per customer.

Unlikely, in my experience of dealing with branch staff who've cottoned on to my 4 sole accounts, but there's always a chance!

You do not get a £5 reward on the Ultimate Reward Account anymore.

Instead if you fund the account with >£1000 each month the fee is £10 rather than £15. No £5 reward shows on the account.

Making the account better value for higher rate taxpayers.

And saving them (Halifax) £1.25 a month as the gross reward used to be £6.25!

Bit of a dilemma for Halifax then!

Do they break their own rules, and allow 3 accounts, in pursuit of a £15/month income, ie grant the account but don't pay a Reward?

Do they break their own rules, provide a 3rd account, pay another £5/month (in effect)...in return for a £10/month income.

Or do they decline the application?

    Answers on a postcard. :)
