in Techie Stuff
Having recently moved and with BT,internet.com. I have new phone number and chose new e-mail title. Not being too clever on the Techie stuff I expected the change to be automatic with the new phone number. How do I change it,Please.

Could you elaborate a bit? You were already with btinternet when you moved so in your new place you have a new phone number and along with this BT said you can change your email address too?0 -
To Johnyboyrebel. With BT at last address with an e-mail name that had old area in name. Now at new place with BT phone and Broadband service. On paperwork I put new e-mail name for this phone number. I assumed this would automatically come up when sending e-mails. Wrong, old name still applies. Friends have tried other name with no success. Over to you!!
Nothing on BT's help site assists with this only dorects you to Yahoo. No thanks.0 -
BT email is done through Yahoo. Besides that I don't understand this post. Why would the new email address come up automatically?0

If I'm reading this correctly, you put the 'new' email address on the paperwork when signing up for service at your new address?
AFAIK the paperwork asks for an email address to send communications to. It should be an existing address - it is not for ordering a new email address. How do I add a signature?0 -
Why would you want to change your email address just because you've moved house?
The whole point of an email address is that it moves with you, it's not tied to an physical address or phone number.
But if you just open a Gmail account (takes 10 minutes) then not only can you have whatever name you like, but you will then have an ISP-independent address forever.
Or sign up for a new Yahoo account if you must.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

As said by macman, dont use the BT address. There is no need to nowadays, go for gmail. I would even say dont use BT, but thats really up to you
It sounds like they asked you what you wanted to use as a new email address which you chose. This wouldn't just replace the previous one, it would be a new email address. God knows why they would even offer you this. Either someone has got mixed up somewhere or BT are clearly just useless especially with anything technical0
