Hello,
I was an old Tiscali cuctomer who was swallowed up by Talk Talk and I recently did a broadband speed test as my connection was running slow. It wasn't very impressive so I contacted Talk Talk who suggested everything was as it should be and the problem was my router.
With a new router installed there was no improvement.
I contacted Talk Talk again and this time they told me that my account with them had been closed in May 2011!!!
They had failed to inform me of this yet my phone and broadband have been working fine since this apparant closing of my account. I checked my bank statements and discovered they had not taken any direct debits since January 2011!!!
So I decided to get signed up to a package which their sales team handled on the 21st June.
Fast forward to today when I ring to ask for progress of the transfer. "Oh, your package was cancelled on the 22nd June"
Further enquiries were made and I was told that my phone was currently with Opal Telecoms and they had to be contacted by me to arrange a transfer over.
There's more.....
A Google search revealed that Opal Telecoms were now part of Talk Talk and handled their business accounts!
So I rang Opal/Talk Talk Business and for the first time spoke to someone who knoew what they were doing. He was able to find my details in one of their systems and concluded that the residential side of Talk Talk had "lost" my account. The information was readily available, and my phone was still on the residential side of things.
So, what to do now? Talk Talk have cancelled my order, Opal are part of Talk Talk and say the phone has never had anything to do with them. The adviser suggeested making a complaint to Ofcom or just leaving the situation as it is, still receiving a free phone and broadband (not very fast broadband).
Has anyone ever encountered such a situation before?

Hello Paul,
What a shocking way to do business. I have never heard of such a restriction being placed on the phone when only one part payment is outstanding. I see you got some nonsense from Buzby in response, but he has been posting rubbish like that on CAG for years.:D"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
