Credit Report Defaults

in Credit cards
Hi everyone,
Looking for a bit of adivce.
I've just had a look at my credit report and it shows that i've been defaulting on a credit card every month since January 2011! Which has obviously had a pretty awful effect on my credit score. The thing is, I have actually been paying, I'm set up on direct debit to pay the minimum amount a month and I haven't missed a payment.
I called them up and they said the default was because I hadn't informed them of my change of address and they had mail returned to them by the new tenants. Yes, I should have informed them of my change of address, but I simply forgot and being set up on DD, didn't think it would be a big issue.
They've adivised me to write them a letter with all the details, which I've just sent by recorded delivery. I guess my question to you is, should I be able to get these defaults removed? I think the only thing I've been guilty of is being slightly forgetful, i've not missed a payment, so surely that is the most important thing when it comes to credit reporting?
It's kind of a critical time as i'm looking at getting a mortgage in the next year or so it can't just be a case of waiting for 6 years till they are removed from my report.
Any information or advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks

As far I as know a default should only be issued when payments are not made and not if you forget to inform them of a new address. I would also involve the credit reference agency involved to see if they can also help correcting the information on your report....0

I think once they have your recorded delivery they would remove the defaults. Track the delivery and then pester them if required with a letter demanding they remove the defaults from your report from day one(as long as you paid on time ).:beer::beer:0

really they shouldn't of put them, instead a goneaway markerDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
