Does Anyone Still Do Passbooks?

I know this is old fashioned but I was wondering if there are still any accounts out there that have passbooks ( and pay at least a respectable amount of interest? )

You get a passbook with YBS regular saver at 7% though you can also operate it using the internet. Passbook with Britannia RS at 7.5% as well.

I think quite a few BS's [mainly] still use passbooks but many of these accounts pay bobbins.

there are those who cherish all the building society passbooks that they possess that they dust them every week :rotfl:

I gift £3000 each year to my two grandchildren (between them)
and they now have in my care three passbooks. These are from the Furness Bldg Society, the Yorkshire and the Leek. Seem to remember that I have one from the Nationwide too. Saving rates for children are often better than we can get but you could check the the web sites of the ones mentioned.

I have a mini ISA with a passbook at Nationwide. I don't know what the current interest rate is though.

we have an isa with Britannia that gives you a passbook
so less easier to spend it as well

My 2 children had pass book accounts but when transferred management of account to the older one the pass book was withdrawn.
However good question as my mil wants to open accounts for them and it occurred to me easiest way was to open a passbook operated one and just leave the book with her - justs wants to add to it now and then; as she is partially sighted filling in forms etc not on. So very helpful thank you.

Almost all building societies plus several banks (mainly ex bs's) still issue passbooks. I reckon I have over 40.

Well, I'm about to open the Loughborough reg saver and apparently I'll be gettng a passbook to manage it.

"But how will I update it? I don't live near any branches."
