Need a stockbroker! Help!

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good private client broker firm, preferably in central London. I will soon have a small amount, about £20,000 of shares in the company I work in that I would like to sell. I'm assuming for this tiny amount they'll all be quite similar, so smallest commission would be best! Any ideas where to start?

I use and would recommend Selftrade.
They charge a flat fee of £12.50/trade for trading shares - and you have the choice of doing it online or via telephone.
In addition, if you are referred by an existing customer, you both get £50 - which means you would make a net profit of £37.50 from selling your shares.
You can even find some people (including me!), who will also give you up to £30 of the £50 they receive, if you're interested..

I've actually had a look at their website before, I'm not sure if I'd be charged more, cos I'd have a share certificate not a crest account or something, and would just want to get the money striaght out after selling the shares! Maybe someone to "walk" me through it more would be better?!0

Selftrade don't charge extra for dematerialising shares ( changing from certificated to nominee account ). You just open the account, send them the share certificates and stock transfer forms and instruct them to sell. You can then move the money from your online account to your bank via BACs or debit card. Couldn't be simpler! If you need help, or would rather deal with a real person, you can always 'phone them.
If you really want to do this in person, try your bank; they will almost certainly offer a sharedealing service. They will be dearer than most online brokers, of course.0 -
That's good info, I think I might give them a call to find out exactly what I'd need to do! Thanks!0

If you want to avoid using the 0870 number, you can use this one -
