in Credit cards
Some emailed me today and told me that the customer service depart at virgin had told them there was no fee on application but there was during the rest of the 9 month period.
I forwarded this to the head office at MBNA (they run Virgin's card) having only reconfirmed last week that the fees free lasts the entire 9 month period.
Virgin have confirmed this is true (ie the fees free is for the whole 9 months) and written to the customer to apologise. So just to reiterate - customer services can get this wrong (no surprise there)

Thanks Martin :A , I hope this helps everyone out.
I posted the thread at the weekend about Virgin applying a 2% fee for SBT's because that's what numerous Virgin staff told me.
Anyway too late for me, I've been told that despite an excellent credit history they won't be giving me a card .. I'd totally forgotten that I had an Abbey card that I haven't used for years and as it is an MNBA card that's me.
I'm staff at Abbey and the best deal they do for staff is 7.9% on everything.
My only regret is I could have sorted out the garden instead of wasting my time with Virgin - was hoping to stooze enough to pay for a gardener.
Now, where are those gardening gloves? :rotfl:HLK

As I already have an MBNA Beyond card, would it make any difference if I applied for a Virgin card by applying online or just by phoning customer services to save completing all the paperwork? Would the later save time or so they not let you apply through customer services?

I applied by phone for a 0% virgin card, (not to transfer balance, but to borrow cash free). Was told I could transfer up to the credit limit to a bank account, but there would be a 2% charge up front. is this right? and are there any other snags for a new money saver to look out for?
advice very welcome Frances0 -
i was'nt charged but some now say u are charged, mbna charge virgin don't i was told.Best ring em up and see what they say.0

So if I already have a MBNA card (actually I have 2, 1 with a large BT on it) then am unlikely to get a virgin card?
How are Virgin (mbna) for partners/wife - ie worth her applying (housewife, minimal income?) - 2ndary cardholder, but no mbna ones in her nameWhat goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
Not unlikely, you won't get one. I applied and didn't realise I hadn't closed my MBNA account (I hadn't touched it for over a year, but this is also irrelivent!) I called them and closed the account and they told me I would not be able to get a Virgin card for twelve months, I notice other people have written that if you wait a couple of months and try you might be successful. To answer your other question my husband also applied and was successful in getting the card.0

sorry just noticed you say she is a secondary card holder on your MBNA I pretty sure that does matter and she probably wouldn't be successful. What is it your interested in with virgin is it the BT or no charge on the cheques, because there are other 0% on BT/cc cheques (no charge) that have nothing to do with MBNA I think there is a link for a list of what companies are linked with who in this forum.0
