mis-labelling of bulbs - a disappointment

A friend and I went to the Ideal Home Show earlier this year (got the free tickets via this website). We, each bought 10 lily bulbs from a stand there - it displayed very nice lily flowers. We carefully selected our bulbs and were assured by the seller that the colour would be as displayed. A few months, my friend and I have discovered that all the bulbs have bloomed with the same colour - orange. I had selected white, red and pink with white streak. My friend was so annoyed that we have been duped! Does anyone here have the same problem?

It seems a common problem is with incorrect labeling
I have a Golden Delicious apple tree, bought from a local garden centre years ago, and it is obviously not a GD, but it is a nice early apple
I think all we can do is enjoy what we get
I suppose, assuming well known seller, you could contact them, maybe with picture, and politely ask for replacements of the correct colours, or refund
May get you no where but at least the supplier will be awareWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0 -
Thanks, Farway, for your reply.
Unfortunately I did not keep the details of the bulb seller at the Ideal Home Show. However, I will do this in the future when I select particular plants or bulbs (not mixed, but the ones I am after) - so that if there is any problem I will let them know.0 -
Not wishing to teach granny to suck eggs ... but are you sure? I grow GD and English GD bears so little resemblance to shop bought that I have guessing tests at work as no-one can recognise it as GD - it is gorgeous and very earlyI have a Golden Delicious apple tree, bought from a local garden centre years ago, and it is obviously not a GD, but it is a nice early appleYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Never too late to learn to suck eggs
I'm sure, my non GD is early & does not keep. And it is not golden / yellow either
I am aware of the English GD reputation, so much so I bought a tree from Lidl and it is now in my son's garden, and is a GD , complete with golden / yellow fruit, or it would be if he pulled up the bind weed choking it :mad:When an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0
