I use Gmail and Google Docs (Now called Drive). I like the Calender with Gmail.
I have several old Docs' on MS Word that I would like to transfer/copy to Google Docs but seem unable to do so. I have tried to copy & paste, emailing it to myself. All without success.
My second request for help is, how do I make Gmail the only way to forward a link on? ie, I click to forward a link and MS Outlook pops up every now and then. I don't use Outlook.
Any advice welcomed.

Zamzar will convert many file types free, not sure what will work on Google, i have converted Windows Doc's to Odf and Rtf and they work Ok
on Google.
Hope this helps as it took me ages to find a free program to convert documents from Windows when i went to Google and Open Office.0 -
I can't help with Google docs as importing Word docs etc. works fine for me. Are your files .doc or .docx ? It shouldn't make a difference, but try saving in the different format.
With regard to your default mail program, this link should help you:

In Google Drive next to the create button there is an upload button, upload your word files using that and it should automatically convert the .dox and .doc files to google drive format.
as for making Gmail your default email handler system wide you need to install the Gmail Notifier which can be found here0 -
