Does any one have any idea for a small easy to read/understand poster that could be put up in comunity buildings ( and possibly local pubs) warnig the public about private parking tickets and possibly a few flyers/words that can be printed on the back of entrance tickets that can be handed out to members of the public by car park operators when entering parking areas ?

'Keep calm and IGNORE any fake parking ticket' would work, and then smaller print info saying that a private firm has no right to fine anyone, giving the URLs of this forum and pepipoo's private parking forum threads too?
Can't find the ones made earlier.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Oops.
I've got some of those free business cards. The lawyer background, "Private parking tickets are not legally enforceable" and the URL of this forum. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

This car park is patrolled by a private parking company.
What you need to know:
Essentially when a driver of a vehicle drives into a car park and parks their car they are implied to accept the offer for parking on the terms of the contract. A contract is formed and therefore the contract can be broken .
Firstly and most simply contractual penalties. When you park in the car park and over-stay or misuse the facilities in some way you breach your contract with the land owner. The terms set out state you will not overstay or misuse the facilities, these are terms on which your contract for parking is based, thus when you do something contrary to these terms you breach the contract. The common law holds that the remedy for breach of contract is damages. Therefore the land owner is entitled to damages covering the costs incurred as a result of your breaching the contract.
If you over-stay at a car park then the landowner loses revenue. Thus if parking is £1 an hour and you overstay by an hour then the damage is £1. So why do these companies seek to charge the users of the car parks figures like £50 and £70? Simply because people do not know any better than to pay.
The easiest thing to do with any private parking ticket is to ignore them completely. These companies often send out numerous threatening letters in an attempt to get you to part with your money, they will threaten you with ccj’s, court, debt collectors and bailiffs. Only the landowner can pursue the driver for any money due to them for their actual loss. Should you get official court papers then do not ignore them, you should seek legal or impartial advice as soon as possible.
More on the subject of private parking can be found on internet forums, the main two being Pepipoo.com and Moneysaving expert. Samples of letters sent out from these companies can be found on both those sites so you can see what to expect. You are not alone – the above forums are there to help you know your consumer rights.
BTW feel free to alter the wording as you see fitYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0
