    I agree with David. ;)

Learning to take good photos is less time-consuming then the actual process of fixing things in photo editing software!

+1 for getting it right in camera.

  • Have a Google for "light tents" - they're about 50 quid, and they're pretty handy for taking product shots with good lighting and background. There are also some good tutorials out there by some budding photographers explaining how you can take the perfect product piccies with them. Good luck!

My daughter in law makes jewelry to sell.

She uses a piece of neutral coloured satin that she drapes over a dining chair. She places the item to be photographed on the seat and her pictures come out perfectly.

She also uses a tripod, it prevents camera shake and means all her pictures are taken from the same distance and height.

As others have said, get the picture right and there's no need to edit.

Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Have you tried scanning the jewelery?
The background (underneath of the lid) is usually a plain white and there should be very few shadows to remove.

There was a quite good photograph manipulation prog online and free a while ago called photopos , the 'pro' version had become a free version and there was also a 'lite' version.
