Legoland - Thorpe Park

Going to stay near legoland probably in a Travelodge during the Olympics and visit with the kids as well as Thorpe Park and probably Windsor Castle.

Are there going to be any issues with traffic congestion or roads being shut during the Olympics, dont want to book if we cannot get around freely

Any advice welcome

The TFL website will tell you. But I can't imagine there'll be much congestion around there. But it depends where are you coming from? Because getting there initially may be more of a problem.
  • Just bear in mind that anywhere around London is going to be crazy once the Olympics are on.

Are you going to watch any of the events? Legoland isn't exactly very close to London...

The Olympic rowing (28/7 to 4/8) and canoe sprint (5/8 to 11/8)events are taking place very close to Windsor and entrance is via the Windsor Racecourse

They are encouraging people to use public transport but I think there will be more traffic but main thing to avoid is near the racecourse

As well as the events taking place near Windsor mentioned above, the athletes taking part in those events will be staying at Royal Holloway College in Egham so there will be Olympic Lanes, speed restrictions etc in the area. Details are here.

Depending on which way you were to travel from Windsor to Thorpe Park you could, in theory, be affected by the traffic changes and/or volume of traffic.
