Need to change our fence can I have some hints/tips what to ask for when seeking quotes about 5/6 pannels in the back garden.

You either ask them to replace what is already there with the same, or you tell them what you want, that is different to the existing, ie: concrete posts perhaps or some different pattern of panels that you have seen somewhere. Make sure that all quotes are for exactly the same specification. Otherwise you cannot properly compare the quotes.

The rule of thumb that I would suggest you adopt is, can you use any of the posts that are there at present.

A fence is an investment for the future of your dwelling, I had replaced a complete fence with concrete post supports and feathered boarding a few years before I sold my last dwelling and its quality helped to sell my home.

I would suggest that you get 3 quotes for your new fence, asking for concrete post supports, which will last many a year, and make the choice you fell most comfortable with.
