Online applications Vs in branch??

May seem like a daft question, but are online applications processed in exactly the same way as applications made in branch?

In theory, it should make no difference - as lenders will surely use the same criteria.

However, in past experience, I have found that most of my online applications get referred - whereas with in-branch applications, I have always had an instant decline or approval.

Has anybody ever applied for a product in-branch and had it referred?

My only experience of applying in branch wasn't good, they made a mistake with my address (so was rejected), they then fixed the address, and I was still rejected. A few days later, I got a letter in the post stating the reason for the second rejection was that it hadn't been long enough since my last application. *headdesk*

It depends when you apply on line for example some companies credit scoring is not live between certain times so they wouldn't be able to give you an immidiate decision.
