I think you should get another couple of quotes. Either he's storing up a host of extras for you or he doesn't understand the question. Thats alarmingly low for the scope of work. How long did he say it would take him?

    Cheers

Yes I thought it was too cheap. He said it would take 7 to 8 days.

Which gives a rate of £93 per day which is about £12 per hour.

Sounds too cheap for a skilled plumber/tiler - even a decorator would charge more.

Expect to pay around £20 per hour.

Ask him if you will get part P for the electrical work

I just paid £400 for a new bath and taps, but he also cleaned out my sluggish waste pipes in bathroom and kitchen, fixed my leaky overflow and replaced all old pipes in bathroom. About 6 hours work in total. It was £202 for materials and £200 for labour.
  • Can anyone recommend a good bathroom installer?

We'll be providing the bath suite, tiles and would like a wet-room installed.

We've been quoted from GBP 3000 (exc. materials) to GBP 5K++ (inc. materials).

    We are based in Berkshire.

I would recommend looking in your local paper or community magazine and getting a few quotes
  • I had a new bathroom in January and i supplied all new items, this also included removing old suit and tiles, then I had floor and all walls completely retiled I paid bathroom installers £2k. Took them 2 weeks I think this was a fair price and I have a gorgeous new bathroom!! The fitter was local ( Wolverhampton)
