Packaging!

How do you package items? In the past I've only sold CDs which I've put in jiffy bags. Now I'm selling some A4 paper back books which aren't that thick, and some A5 or bigger hardback textbooks which are about an inch thick. Do they make jiffy bags that big?! If so, would they be safe?
And what's the best money saving way to get packaging?

You can buy all sorts of padded envelopes in the pound shop, even very large one that take several books (The big ones are 5 envelopes for a pound).
However, if you have a 99p shop the envelopes are even better value. They have a pack of 12 padded envelopes sized approx 11 inches by 8 inches which wll take a standard paperback.

I have bought loads of books off Ebay, and most of them have come wrapped in pop paper (presumably off a roll) and then in Brown Packaging type paper.
No problems with any of them getting damaged, and probably more economical, cos you could use that for your cds too."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

I recycle as much as possible. If the packaging is reusable and clean it will do another turn.!0

make sure you do put heavy books etc in suitable packaging and not a just a run-of-the mill brown envelope (which i have seen happen). Slight dampness ie a mildly wet day and it will just disintegrateI'm afraid I was very, very drunk.0

Peezers......
Head to your Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco's and get them lovely free sheets of bubble wrap............. The ones that are layered between fruit.
Head to B&Q or any big DIY store and buy the odd rolls of tough, vinyl wallpaper for 50p to 75p.
Head home, wrap in bubble wrap, tape up, then wrap in the vinyl wallpaper.
A big plus here is if it goes AWOL....... You can tell the sorting office it's so big by so big, with deep maroon and blue stripes.
For A4 I scoop up all the empty boxes at work the photocopier paper comes in, and simply cut them down.

I think that is the best thing I've heard all day..I'm tempted to wrap my next lot of items in the deep pink flowery vinyl that mother in law used in her bedroom..It will certainly make my claims to the post office for lost parcels more interesting. Please describe the wrapping as accurately as possible.........
Brilliant idea, thanks Tojo.
