How to buy xbox live family pack?

My kids various xbox live accounts have expired (I have 3 boys) and it makes financial sense for them to share a 12 month xbox live family pack membership at £69.99 rather than have individual ones at £39.99 each. They will be pooling their pocket money to pay for it.

We have tried to buy previous xbox live gold memberships without entering credit card or paypal details so have mostly bought them in a shop or online so that you get a card with a code on that you enter into the xbox account. I want to do the same with the family membership, but despite googling around I can't see a way to buy it outside of going direct through microsoft and using my credit card or paypal.

It also looks like I will need to be the primary family member (although I never play) as the boys are all under 18.

Anyone know if this is the only way to do it?

I don't think you can buy a code card for the family pack so you would have to buy through the xbox, just a word of warning when you buy it through the xbox it will set up to automatically renew every year, you have to turn that off in a setting option.

You can buy a single 12 month card for £29.99 from amazon, so it would still be cheaper with the family pack.

this xbox article will give you some information on the sign up process

Thank you. Yes I have already been stung once with the auto renewal the first time we ever got membership for one of the boys which is why I wanted to avoid that route. At the time I thought I had turned off the autmatic renewal, but something obviously went wrong as I was still charged.

Looks like I might well need to get a grip with it this time though.
