gatwick airport pick up

we are going to pick my daughter and her boyfriend up from Gatwick airport next week as they come back from their holiday.
now assuming they come in on time that shouldn't be a problem but I don't want to pay a fortune in car park fees.
whats the best way to do this , I can check whether they're going to be late or not on the internet , is there anywhere nearby we can park up and then just go and pick them up like we dropped them off ?? ( quick five minute drop off and goodbye cuddle lol )

I did park in McDonalds car park but I believe there are wardens that patrol for long stayers... if you aren't too far away its not too bad if you wait until they are on the ground and then they text you that they have landed , thats what I do at Heathrow when my son needs picking up.. he sometimes has to wait half an hour or so but it takes him a while to get through the customs hall so he doesn't mind waiting as its a 'FREE TAXI' of Mum... lol

Its so annoying now at all the airports that you can't just scoot in for a pick up , they make you park and pay.. the excuse is usually its a security measure.. last time I parked at Luton it cost £8 but I made him pay lol

wait in tesco car park and get them to phone / text you when they have their cases. Then you will be there in 5 minutes.
  • The post code for the Tesco north of Gatwick is RH6 0AT. only 2 or 3 miles from the airport.

From the south, there is County Oak retail park on the edge of Crawley: RH11 7XN.

Both sites are very convenient for airport.

Only done this once at LGW a few years back but the best FREE place to pick them up is at the DROP off point at departures because like most airports there is NO free pick up point-you get directed to a car park when you go down the "arrivals" road.

It's easy for them to pick up bags then go to the Departure side

I hung around in the Mcd's back then

We wait in McDonalds car park too and then whizz round and collect our passenger from the 'drop off' point.
