Hello Everybody ....
Not sure if this applies to the Grabbit ... but me can't think where else to put it ...
My Car Tax expires March 31st ... and you can get your new disc from the 18th of the month I believe ... Now I drive a small 4x4 ... which may be affected by the budget ... some commentators are suggesting £400 per year  ... So I have renewed this morning at the PO ... not sure how this would work if you applied online ... but I got it at the Pre-Budget rate of £190 per year ...
Also a rise on general vehicle road tax may be on the cards ... so this advice would likely apply to anyone with a pending renewal ...
Just a pointer in case the road tax rise is on the spot ...
Hope this Helps ....
A truly worthy 600th post ....

I hope they don't put up the car tax for my Toyota Aygo. £40/yr is enough already, thank you very much, lol.0

Hopefully Low Emission vehicles will stay the same ... we plan to sell this 'drain' when Spring finally breaks in earnest ... our other car is a diesel ... and having driven diesel's for some 14 years I had forgotten how expensive petrols can be ... ... We hope to plump for a Audi A2 to keep our aging A6 company ...... as we believe this qualify's for the lower road tax rate ...

I have a 4x4 estate that does 23MPG, Boss has an X5 that does 38MPG, we are just an easy target.
What more polluting a new X5 or a 15yr old Mondeo??????0 -
I'm not sure how accurate the manufacturers figures are anyway. When I recently had my car MOT'd the emissions test showed that the actuals were about a tenth of the manufacturer's declared figures!!! So it is likely the politicians know this, but just see it as an easy tax grabbing target.
As someone who is involved with many high profile political items (I cannot say what I do) I know for a fact that most of what politicians say is utter garbage. What irks me is that nowadays the majority of journalists and TV interviewers are so sterile and uninformed on specific issues that they nearly always fail to ask the “right” questions and thereby never put the politicians under any pressure. In my view most journalists nowadays are more intertested in climbing the career ladder by not making too many waves and being PC rather than making things tough for our beloved leaders!!!0 -
I don't drive so am not entirely sure what qualifies as a 4X4, but DH drives a Mitsubishi Pajero so I expect we'll be hit by this. If it persuades him to get rid of the horrible thing and get a proper car, then that's to the good.I am not stubborn. I am merely correct.0

What about the pollution from the many under utilised bus services I see running around? Nothing in this budget to encourage people to use public transport apart from eventually to tax them out from being able to afford to own and run a car.0 -

Exactly and if you catch the train up here at rush hour you will do a sardine impression for the duration of the journey, and unfortunately where I work is in a scuzzy area, hence the buses are full of ...lets say to be polite.... undesirables, before I am accused of being a basher.0
