House Surveys

Hi, I hope someone out there can give me some advise, this is the first time I have posted although I do read the forum as you can find really useful info here.
Ok....... I bought a house in 2001 and then remortgaged with another company in 2006. We are now having the property monitored for subsidence and the insurance company want a copy of the survey we would have had done when we bought the property. We cannot find this any where, does anyone have any idea where we would be able to get a copy of this. I can't even remember which company did the survey.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can bring any ideas to help here.

Did you supply a copy to your solicitor at the time of purchase?
Most will ask to see it.What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
It was done through a brooker when we purchase the property and he dealt with everything. I can't remember every meeting the solicitor and the brooker is no longer around.0

Your mortgage provider will have had a valuation survey done, did you employ a seperate company to do your homebuyers/structural or did you tag it onto your mortgage company's?What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

It was just tagged on to the mortgage companys. Would they still have a copy of this even though we moved our mortgage from them in 2006 or would the current mortgage company have a copy?0

Right, I don't know how long mortgage companies keep records for. Someone else here might know.
If I were you I would contact my current lender. Then I would contact my previous lender. If neither still hold records, ask the previous lender what company that they use/would have used to carry out the valuation, then contact them.
Your mortgage company should also know what legal firm you used to carry out the conveyancing so ask them for that info. A solicitor should keep your file for a minimum of 6 years, but some will hold for 10-15. I should think you'd be charged for this though. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
Thank you so much!!!! I have somewhere to start now.0
