aTube Catcher video download problem

My internet connection is so slow that most streaming videos are just a series of random stills, although audio is OK. So, I've installed aTube Catcher to download and play in the same format although it is mainly a conversion program (you can select 'no conversion, only get original file' in 'output profile'). At the bottom of the window the download is indicated by x MB downloaded out of x MB, the progress in %age terms and the speed. When this 79MB download got to 80%, it stalled; the info was replaced by an alternating Connected/Disconnected message (3 or 4 times a second) although the '80%' remained along with the URL etc. info. I've paused the download and tested the connection, but it is fine. On resumption, it is still stalled at 80%. In the so-called manual it states that you can try version 2, without telling you which is version 2! I have 2.9.1025 installed. Any suggestions, please?
