tesco do all the stuff for making sushi. It's quite easy once you get the hang of it.
Fillings: smoked salmon, smoked mackerel, prawns, crab meat, sliced avocado, roasted red pepper, cucumber, spring onion"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -
These are great little things for taking a packed lunch http://www.laptoplunches.com/ they have some ideas for new lunches to try.... to order from the uk http://www.laptoplunches.co.uk/Kits.html
Also this site, although geared for vegans, gives some delicious ideas for lunches and might be useful for those who can't get their lil munchkins to eat their veggies http://veganlunchbox.blogspot.com/The stupid things you do, you regret... if you have any sense, and if you don't regret them, maybe you're stupid. - Katharine Hepburn0 -
as a treat I will buy pate or/and soft cheese & a packet of biccies & just munch as I go - not totally MSE but still cheaper than a prepacked sarnie or Lunch at work!
ps hate packed lunches - i never want to eat the samr thing I made before work -I guess what seems a good idea at 7.15 .... or conversely I eat it before lunch cos its so scrummy & then have nothing left for lunch!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
Decided to make the rice salad last night. Cooked the rice and chopped peppers with a chicken stock cube, some paprika and some saffron. Drained it let it cool then added some diced cooked chicken, raisins, a splash of olive oil and some curry powder all in a pitta bread. Its fab!!!! Thank you. Will slowly work my way through the suggestions.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

unixgirluk wrote: »Ok, stupid question. Can anyone recommend a good recipe for potato salad? I've tried a few different versions but haven't found one I liked yet.
I do a very basic one which is potatos chopped into chunks and boiled the dressed with wholegrain mustard dressing.
for the dressing, I use garlic white wine vinegar (which I make by just putting cloves into the vinegar and keeping in the fridge), sugar or honey, olive oil and wholegrain mustard. Roughly 2 parts oil to one part vinegar, wholegrain mustard till nice and thick and sugar to taste. Mix with the potatos, salt and pepper and hey presto one very easy potato salad. Nice with green beans etc.
I also like one which is really just mayo, spring onions and potatos as well.0 -
You could have "Theme" weeks like Italian, American, Mexican weeks etc. EG for American week, you could Bagels and Cream cheese, Pastrami on Rye bread, Waldorf Salad, Blueberry Muffins, Chicke Caeser salad etc. Italian week could be cold Pizza slices, past pots, Mozzerllo salad etc Mexican - 3 bean wraps, spicy chicken fajita wraps, bean and carrot salad pots, etc etc. Anything to liven up life!!0

I'm the same. Used to work 5 mins from M&S store in one direction and a M&S Simply food 5 mins in the other direction.
I absolutely know that if I go near it, I will spend £30 just on fruit and smoothies!!!
That's why I can't go to the big Tesco supastore - M&S is right next door a lovely huge M&S with a big food hall.
So I shop at little Tesco Metro and Co-op.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hello, this is my first post, hope it comes out ok
I had a gorgeous cold Salmon & Cesar Salad at a London museum:- Salmon fillet
- hard boiled egg
- cooked and cooled beans
- rocket/leaves
- cherry toms
- Ceasar dressing
- cooked and cooled new potatoes
It was soooo nice I started taking it to work for my lunch and it kept me going all day as it is much more substantial than other salads I would prepare. Sometimes I would microwave the spuds on a cold day (obviously avoiding the m/w is your reason for wanting a cold lunch... just thought I'd mention it though; hungry now)
Great site :T0 -
We often have frittata/spanish omlette once a week and always make enough for left overs for lunch cold, it's really good.
Fry thinly sliced courgettes and onions, or potatoes and onions or anything you fancy, pour over beaten eggs with a bit of milk and s&p and top with cheese. Cook on hob and then pop under the grill until firm. Yummy.0
