Just checked - there are loads of food flasks on Ebay! (new, not used ones!!)0
-
I recently got a flask at poundstretcher for I think about £3.99 and it does the job fine.
You can also make potato salad. fruit salad with yoghurt and a croissant is nice and filling. There are also a lot of things you can do with pasta other than tuna and sweetcorn. I can quite happily eat it cold with any tomato based sauce and think of it as a salad (only for smaller pasta shapes though, can't do it with spaghetti for some reason!) Pesto and pasta salad is also nice.
Take a look in Marks and spencers at the salads they do too - they have some good ideas that you can do a version of0 -
Ok, stupid question. Can anyone recommend a good recipe for potato salad? I've tried a few different versions but haven't found one I liked yet.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. How about cheese and biscuits just fill your lunch box with some tastey thinly sliced cheese add some sliced tomato, cucumber, onions, olives, pickled onion and maybe some sliced ham and chicken. then you can put lots of combos on each biscuit.

Home made quiche is fab. make a square one and in each corner put a different filling. Carefully pour in you egg and milk mix and bake. Then you can cut into four and have four different quiches for lunch.
Filling suggestions: broccoli and stilton; prawn, baby tomato and feta; ham and mushroom; cheese and onion.
Cold bar-b-que chicken drumsticks. Get a cheap lot of drumsticks. Make up some marinades and roast them. Freeze and defrost as needed.
Marinades: soya, tomato paste, sesame oil and honey: curry paste: yoghurt, lemon juice and curry powder.
Potato salad: finely chop spring onion and mix with some mayo and yoghurt. Add some salt and pepper and a little horseradish. Mix through cooked diced potato. or mix some lemon juice yoghurt and chopped coriander through some diced potato. Some people also like to mix some cooked chopped bacon through the potato salad.
Make your own samosas.
Recipe:
Samosa Recipe
To make the samosa dough, mix in a bowl:
1 1/2 cups white flour
1/2 cup Gram flour
1 1/2 Tablespoons rice flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp Tumeric
1/2 tsp lemon pepper (optional
2 1/2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Add water gradually (about 1/4 cups) until the dough holds together, and knead well. Roll into a ball and cover with a moist cloth. Let rest about 20 minutes.
To make the samosa filling, heat in a skillet/deep frying pan:
1 tbsp oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3 medium potatoes, boiled and chopped into small cubes
1 cup of peas
handful of sweetcorn
2 cups of fresh spinach or 2 lumps of frozen leaf spinach
1 heaped spoon of curry paste ( I like madras for the heat)
3 medium potatoes, boiled and chopped into small cubes
Sauté until the onion becomes translucent, then add:
peas, sweetcorn, curry paste, saute for another minute. Then add spinach and cook until this is wilted, finally add cooked potato and a little water. mix it all togther until you have a moist (not runny) curried mixture.
To make the samosas:
Pinch off 1" pieces of the dough, and roll out into 4" diameter circles. Place a spoon of mixture in the middle and make it kinda triangle shaped. Wash the uncovered edges with a little milk or water then fold over three sides so they overlap and form a triangle shape.
To cook samosa, deep fry until browned, turning twice. Drain onto some paper towels."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0 -

another suggestion. Go and have a wander around M&S food court. Note all the things that you fancy cold for lunch and go home, source a recipe of the net and make it for yourself at much less the price and much less the packaging."A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." I have no will-power where M&S food hall is concerned (Unixgirluk hangs her head in shame), but good thought. Love their sushi and sashimi too much.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
