I am SOOO angry!!!!

It's my last day at my current workplace today.

I arranged to get a lift in with my best mate so I could relax at my leaving lunch and have a few beers.

We had a barny this morning and it ended up with him storming out and eventually driving off without me.

I tried to call to say that I was just coming down but the O2 network is b*ggered so the call didn't get through :(

So, I drove myself to work and now after calling me childish etc he's not talking to me.

It's my last day after 6 years, it's hard enough without being treated like cra*p by my "best" mate.

Am I being unreasonable to be so upset that he's behaving like this?!

Depends on what the cause of this "barny" was. It could have been all your doing and your friend has behaved quite reasonably by leaving you to make your own way to work.

I wish I could say it was my own doing but alas, it wasn't. It was so petty and could have been sorted with that call I tried to make.

I didn't want to get a cab because that's more expenditure to add to the leaving do on Friday night :(

If he isn't talking to you now then he probably doesn't consider your disagreement to be petty.

You are entitled to be upset that you've managed to have a disagreement with your best friend but if you're upset because you think the other person has been petty and you're completely blameless, then you're in danger of not being able to mend things.

It could be that your friend is upset that you are leaving and does not know how to show it!

I don't think anyone can say whether you're being unreasonable or not without knowing what you argued about. Perhaps worth thinking though that you're probably feeling a little stressed/upset with it being your last day and he might be feeling a little disappointed about you leaving - so you both may be a little more sensitive to things then usual.
Personally, if it's a fall out over something and nothing then I would just go over and say something like 'I'm feeling a little sad today as I'm leaving, please could we not fall out.' Is it really worth the hassle of stewing over it if it's only over something petty anyway?

Why do you need someone else to get you home? Even if you have a drink or several you should still be able to get home by yourself.

Are you female? Could he have stronger feelings for you than 'friendship'? Could another friend/family member have given you a lift? Could have got a cab and cut back elsewhere, or driven, left the car, then got a lift to the car the next day instead.

(Count yourself lucky, btw. My mate had a barny with an ex and left him in the Lake District with no dosh while she drove back to London!)
