Tips on painting high staircase

Hi

I am just about to attempt to paint my staircase walls and wondered if anyone has any tips on painting the highest points. Obviously using an extendable roller would be great but how about the cutting in? Also is it ok to paint a newly plastered wall or does it need any treatment before painting?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Jamie

Ladder from lower part of stair to wall above (facing the treads) then plank from top step to ladder.

Needs a mist coat first 50:50 paint and water (don't worry it will look very bad at this point), then two coats of emulsion.

as with the extendable roller, I used the same but took the roller off and tied a good size brush to the end for the cutting in.

When i was decorating the stairs what i did was to make something similar to a step you'd have outside a caravan, out of blockboard and with 2 steps. Then if you turn it upside down you have a small platform to sit on the stairs. You can reach a lot higher when standing on the bottom of your platform and to get even higher you have something safer to sit your ladder on.

Agree with this but even easier if you do the walls and ceiling the same colour.
