How to tell if a listing has been edited... UPDATED :-)

  • Now this would be useful ^^^ Where do I find this? I've had another look at the listing and I can't see such a link anywhere.

Look for this bit just below the main Image of the item on the listing page:

As you can see, the listing i took this screen dump from was last updated on 09/07/2012 @ 20:34. If you click the link next to that info you can see a summary of what has been changed.

If the item you purchased does not have this info it would not have been edited.

Thanks for that - I looked again, and yes it was edited.

Lesson learned, I will check that bit in future!

I've emailed the seller to explain what happened, and to give her the chance to cancel the sale (on a mutual) and re-list it if she wants to - after all, it's a very nice and pretty expensive dress and it only went for the minimum bid of 99p. If however she still wants me to pay for it I will, and re-list it myself.

Thanks to all for your help!

I can confirm I was right and it doesn't show on all listings, just if there have been edits.

I ended up paying for the dress anyway, as I didn't want to mess the seller around. I planned to re-list it on Ebay once received....

    but.....

.. the dress arrived today, and in spite of being labelled an EU 38, UK 10, and therefore should be two sizes too small .... drum roll please .....

    it fits me !!!!!

    :j

I am so chuffed, I never thought I would ever fit into a size 10 ever again!

    :rotfl:

(It is stretchy material, but even so)

    :D:D:D

Thank you Ebay, thank you !

Many people use free listings to get as many items on as they can - and sometimes the item is still in the loft etc and they just get the listing on from memory or just rush a description - and then check and edit after free listing day ends.

Not sure if thats the case here - but it is quite common.

It can get a bit awkard if, like me, you put a snipe on a few days in advance. Then they change the listing details and you find you bought something entirely different from what you thought you were getting...:rotfl:

Never thought about this before. I bought my car off a trader on ebay.

He changed the listing and put mine in its place. Wonder if someone bought mine thinking it was a different car?

You could imagine the buyer. Err i bid on a car but the one your selling me is older and the wrong model.

People get charged for that - eBay don't want people just uploading loads of blanks and filling them in when they get a chance.

If you buy an item from a multiple item listing, the seller could possibly alter the description, but I suspect, not by much.
with a BIN listing, the description and gallery pic can all be changed as many times as you like, even after sales have been made. Its only really the item title that can't be changed after any sales have been made.

Would the buyer's 'copy' of the listing show the original listing at the time of purchase?
