Any idea if I need planning permission to remove my garage? Do I need to inform anybody (e.g. the council, mortgage lenders, insurance etc)?

I wouldnt think you would need planning permission but are you 100% sure that asbestos is not present in your garage.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
No, but I would employ professionals to do it, who would presumably check for that and know how to deal with it.0

If your house is listed, or if you are in a conservation area, then you would need permission. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
