01709 763840 Silent Calls GE Capital/ACE European

Hi have been getting missed calls from 01709 763840 every day this week, I Googled the number and came up with loads of sites see my Google link:

I have been registered with TPS for years now and this is the 1st time I've had these sort of calls. Has anybody else had calls from these people and have any tips on how to get them stopped? I have not answered any of their calls yet just let them ring out would it actually stop them if I do answer the call and tell them to stop??
Thanks

I'd just complete an online complaint for.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If you're with BT for the phone line, you can register for a service called Choose to Refuse by calling them on 150.

Used to be free for the first month then about £10 a month after, but people that are prank calling you will tend to stop calling before the free month is over. You can cancel it anytime before 30 days is up without charge too.

Then you get a number to call, acting as your control panel. You ring it, enter a number you want to block from calling and hey presto. Give it a try and just remember to note on your calendar to call on day 29 to cancel so you don't pay for the service. ;)

I'm getting these too, and it seems to be (from an internet search, so I'm cautious) that it's GE Money who may have sold the details on. We've had about 15 in 5 days, which I think is getting towards harrassement. They've left lots of messages on the answerphone (saying "Hello, Hello?"), and when we have answered it, then it's been the silent call.

TPS don't deal with silent calls, though we are registered with them.

When I rang them back, I could leave a message to tell them that I didn't want to be bothered again, so I did. It takes 48 hours though and we've had one since then....
